Getting Started

This page is dedicated to the first steps a user will need to be familiar with in order to get up and running with Master Patch.

Licensing

Master Patch requires a license for its use.

Please read the Licensing section for more information about licensing.

Versioning

All desktop applications within the LUCA suite must be operating on the same version in order to avoid issues and errors.

The user can see the version of Master Patch they are running from the License window.

Applications such as Stage Viewer will not connect to Master Patch if they are of differing versions.

Auto-Updates

Like Stage Viewer, if connected to the internet when being launched, the application will automatically check if any updates are available and inform the user if there is.

The user is then able to download or ignore the update as they desire.

The most up to date version of LUCA applications are also available from the Vampire Squid website via the users user portal.

Architecture

Master Patch, as well as being the data input and maintenance application of the LUCA suite, also serves as the primary LUCA server in a system.

This is to say, that all other applications within the LUCA suite will connect to an instance of Master Patch located on a network in order to retrieve and send data.

Please read the Network Configuration section for more information about connecting applications within LUCA to an instance of Master Patch.

Viewers

Within the world of LUCA, Stage Viewer is known as a 'viewer'. This is to say that Stage Viewer has the ability to retrieve and view data from a LUCA Server (Master Patch) on the same network.

Viewers are currently available as desktop applications for both Mac and Windows operating system, as well as for iOS mobile operating system.
